Thanet Squash Club Update 5th June 2020

Have Fun and Win a Prize

Dear member

This is to give you advanced notice that at 7.00pm on Friday 19th June the club will be running an on-line quiz.

There will be a mix of questions, many related to squash, many particularly geared towards testing your knowledge of the Thanet Squash Club and its members. Plus a selection of general knowledge questions.

You must be the winner and a member of the squash club to win the prize.

The winner will be invited to choose between £50 credit added to their fob or a £25 Amazon voucher.

Further details to follow.

Booking Courts

We can expect that during the first stage of opening the club the upstairs cash booking system alongside the bar will not be operating and that all court bookings will need to be on-line.

If you have not already registered to book on-line, we encourage you to do so as early as possible – you will need to have a Pay Pal account. Please don’t leave it until the last minute.

A reminder that booking on-line is set up via the Club web site. Any issues with passwords will be sorted by contacting either Eddie or Steve

at  eddiecpitman@talktalk.net

or tscmembership@hotmail.co.uk

Preparation for the club re-opening

England Squash are developing a downloadable COVID-19 toolkit for clubs to support the return to squash in clubs, which will include items such as step-by-step guidance for reopening, safety posters and a pro forma risk assessment template. The toolkit will be released when the guidelines from Government are clear.

We will be using the toolkit to ensure that we comply with all recommended safety measures before re-opening.

The re-opening may be some way off but committee continue to follow developments and we are now starting to focus on the four key areas recommended by England Squash.

In summary (and not restricted to):

  • Leadership and management

Safety – measures to protect our employees

  • Club access and environment

Any changes required to minimise risk

Safer entry and exit

Potentially limiting the use of the communal spaces.

Assessing Stocks of cleaning and hygiene products and considering a more frequent cleaning schedule.

  • Court bookings
Reviewing how the court booking system is to be used in future.
  • Members/players
Adopting and Imbedding any new practices required by all our members to keep us safe at the club.
