Good News – We are able to re-open the Squash and Gym on Monday 12th April
England squash provide a very detailed generic guide to getting back to playing squash, it runs into 28 pages and is regularly being updated . It includes very useful information on Health and Safety which we urge you to follow.
Not all of the information will apply to us but this guide and wider government guidance has been used by the Committee as a basis for opening our club.
More information can be found on their websites.
As you appreciate this is the very first step to re-opening so not surprisingly, and quite rightly, there are significant limitations imposed upon us.
Getting the club open is a brilliant start but we realise how tough its been over the last year for our members so now we have the opportunity we really want to try to make this work – We know this is very limited but please work with us on this so that we can get back to opening up the club for good – stick to the rules so that in the weeks or months ahead we can look forward to the time when we can all get back to playing squash at our club and its not just open for the few.
From 12th April the Club will be open from 0800 to 2100 each day.
Limited to same household , singles matches full play. Maximum two players on court no 3’s or doubles.
Single person play / training alone, Known as ‘solo practice
The gym facilities will be open to all members (very limited at the start).
Only one person in the gym at any one time – or up to two people from the same household.
Because the very limited numbers of members allowed in the gym at any one time you will need to book a session on-line. This can done by using the court booking system for either court 3 or court 4
If you do not book you will not be able a to gain access to the club.
Each booking will cost £1.
(If we use the booking system which we have to do to manage the numbers and ensure slots are available for people when they turn up, we have to make a nominal charge so that the system can operate)
When using the gym please take note and observe the signage about social distancing and wiping down equipment before and after use.
Gym members will have access to the gym behind court 1 and the gym equipment on court 4.
Non-gym members will only have access to the gym equipment on court 4
The changing rooms will be open but if you you use them there must be no more than two people in the changing room at any one time and you must social distance.
Our recommendation is that you come ready changed and leave immediately having played/or on using the gym.
There will be no shower facilities available on opening (water will be turned off) but we are monitoring events closely and our hope is that we can open the showers shortly.
This is a summary and as mentioned there is more information on England Squash and Government websites. It goes without saying that we expect all members to think of others as well as themselves and observe government guidelines by wearing a mask in communal areas; wiping down equipment before and after use; social distancing and leaving the club immediately they have played squash or have used the gym.
